Hypnosis partners well with psychotherapy

Getting to the root of the problem

Hypnotherapy is especially effective when an individual has had therapy and has an awareness of the issues and behaviors that are impacting their current life.

Sometimes years of therapy can’t get a person through a particular aspect of themselves that is troubling and feels “stuck.” In hypnosis, a person is able to go directly to the core of the issue. One way to do this is through a regression - where the person regresses in their mind to the originating event that occurred which resulted in the behaviors or emotions due to unmet needs.

In a regression, there are many ways to approach the event. The client ALWAYS leads the session based upon what he/she/they feel comfortable with exploring. A client will not re-play a traumatic experience if he/she/they does not want to. Some approaches to healing in a hypnotic regression….from a safe distance - watching objectively as the adult self; in the situation itself as the adult self - caring and providing for the inner child; reframing the event and seeing it from a different lens; replaying the event multiple times until it loses its charge; giving voice to the person when he/she/they may not have had a voice during the event due to age or circumstance and more…

Such a session typically results in a release of stored emotion which leads to the client being able to move past it. Providing for the unmet need in hypnosis is also quite powerful as the subconscious doesn’t know time and thus with that need met, it no longer shows up as important or relevant to the person after a session.

The partnership of therapists and hypnotherapists leads to more impactful and effective change for the individual with whom they are treating.
