Teenagers these days

If you are a parent of a teenager, you know that mental health issues are a thing right now. It can be excruciating to see your child suffer and not know how to get effective help. So where should you start?

When exploring support options for your child, I suggest first consulting with your family doctor to determine if there is an underlying health related reason for the mental health issue.

Next, seek a psychotherapist with whom your child will like and trust is also a good idea. Schedule a consultation call with the practitioner to determine whether or not their approach, demeanor, style, etc feel right to you and your child. Talk therapy with the right person is incredibly helpful for helping your child to learn about their patterns, beliefs, fears and emotions.

But what about hypnotherapy? I frequently work with teens (with consent from their doctor or therapist) who are struggling with some pretty heavy issues and I have seen the positive changes from this modality significantly impact the quality of their lives. Feelings of sadness, lack of confidence, apprehension about academics or social gatherings, perfectionism are all pretty common feelings for everyone these days but especially for teenagers.

Once your child is clear on what it is that is making him/her/them feel bad, getting to the root of the problem through accessing the subconscious is very effective and efficient for releasing stored emotions. One or two sessions can be life changing for your troubled teen which means that they will feel better faster than with psychotherapy alone.

And when your child is feeling better, YOU will feel better.
